About the E55 AMG
The W211 E55 AMG (2003-2006) was a giant leap in AMG performance. The supercharged 5.4-litre M113K V8 produced 476hp, propelling the E55 to 60mph in 4.3 seconds. The combination of subtle styling and devastating performance epitomised the "sleeper" concept. The W211 E55 AMG is now recognised as one of the great Q-cars.
Known Issues to Watch For
Engine: M113K supercharged - check intercooler pump, supercharger clutch. Pulley bearings. Transmission: 722.6 robust. SBC Brakes: Sensotronic Brake Control problematic - many have been converted to conventional brakes (acceptable). Airmatic: Standard - check for leaks and compressor wear. Electrics: Various sensors fail with age. General: SBC and Airmatic are main concerns.
