The Countach's successor arrived with a Gandini design softened by Chrysler ownership but packing a 485 horsepower 5.7-liter V12. The Diablo represented massive capability improvements over its predecessor with genuine 200 mph performance and (relatively) improved ergonomics. The original rear-wheel-drive model established the template refined throughout the 1990s.
Early Diablos (pre-1999) suffer cooling and electrical issues. Power steering pump failures common. Air conditioning marginal. Clutch slave cylinder leaks. Door mechanism complexity leads to failures. ABS systems on early cars problematic. 6.0 models most reliable. All require expert maintenance - timing belt service critical. Exhaust manifold cracking on heavily driven examples.
VT all-wheel drive (for usability), lightweight flywheel, Alpine stereo, air conditioning, adjustable suspension, carbon fiber interior trim, wing delete (early cars), luggage set, tool kit, matching numbers, known service history, Registro Lamborghini certification.
