Sat 20th & Sun 21st June The vendor bought this 88in Land Rover Series IIA a few years ago but never got around to restoring it. The 2.25-litre petrol engine does run and the vehicle does drive, but it's being sold as a project. The odometer shows 7928 miles. The paperwork amounts to MoT certificates from between 2008 and 2014, a few old receipts, and the current V5C which indicates 8 former keepers. It was first registered on 1st August 1966.
The Land Rover Series II (1958-1961) featured updated styling with curved sides. 2.0-litre petrol or diesel. 88" or 109" wheelbase. More refined but still utilitarian. Values from £10k.
Series Land Rover: Chassis - galvanised steel but rust is endemic. Check outriggers, crossmembers, spring hangers, bulkhead mounts. Bulkhead footwells rust badly. Engine 2.25 petrol/diesel simple and reliable. Oil leaks expected. Gearbox crash box (I/II) or synchro (IIA onwards). Aluminium body doesn't rust but check for electrolytic corrosion. Budget £2-5k annually.
Series I 80" (most valuable), Good chassis, Galvanised chassis, Matching numbers, Station Wagon body
