2004 Mercedes-Benz SL350 - NO RESERVE

The R230 SL350 (2003-2011) brought accessible V6 power to the SL range with the M272 3.5-litre producing 272hp initially, later 316hp. The folding hard-top "Vario-Roof" transformed from roadster to coupe in 16 seconds. Despite being entry-level, it retained all SL luxury and could be optioned identically to V8 models. The lighter nose improved handling balance, making it surprisingly agile. Popular for its combination of SL prestige with lower running costs and excellent fuel economy.

M272 balance shaft sprocket wear causes engine rattle on early cars (fixed from 2007). Vario-Roof hydraulics need maintenance - pumps and rams can fail. ABC suspension (if fitted) expensive to repair. Soft dashboard leather shrinks and cracks in sun. SBC brake system requires dealer reset if battery dies. Timing chain tensioner failures. Air conditioning evaporator leaks common.
