About the WRX
The Subaru Impreza WRX GD (2000-2007) evolved through Bugeye, Blobeye, and Hawkeye styling phases. EJ205/EJ255 turbo with 225-265hp. Controversial Bugeye styling (2000-2002) gave way to popular Blobeye (2003-2005) and aggressive Hawkeye (2006-2007). Sweet spot of classic Impreza ownership with better rust resistance than GC. Values from £8k.
Known Issues to Watch For
GD Impreza (2000-2007): Engine: EJ205/EJ207/EJ255 turbo - timing belt critical, head gaskets (EJ25 2.5L more prone than EJ20), turbo wear, boost leaks. Gearbox: 5-speed (WRX) synchros wear; 6-speed (STI) stronger but not bulletproof. DCCD: Check all modes function. Rust: Better than GC but still check sills, arches, boot floor - 15-20 year old cars. Values: Blobeye considered sweet spot. RB320/WR1 command premiums. Budget £2-3k annually maintenance.
