The C2 Stingray Convertible offered the same revolutionary styling and independent rear suspension as the coupe in open-air form. While lacking the coupe's dramatic roofline, convertibles provided the classic American sports car experience. The 1967 model year, final of the C2 generation, offered the most powerful engine options including the L88 racing engine. Convertibles outsold coupes throughout the C2 generation.
Independent rear suspension half-shafts and U-joints wear. Fibreglass body checking and stress cracks common. Birdcage frame rust underneath - essential inspection point. Hideaway headlight mechanisms problematic. Big-block cars run hot. Side exhaust systems corrode. Interior trim pieces difficult to restore correctly. Power window regulators fail. Knock-off wheels need proper torque and maintenance.
