The R107 560 SL (1985-1989) was US-market only with the M117 5.6-litre V8 producing 227hp (US spec). Despite lower power than European 500 SL, the 560 SL is sought after for its torque and specification. Grey imports to UK are common.

Engine: M110 six reliable. M116/M117 V8s robust but check for timing chain wear on high mileage. Oil leaks common. Transmission: Auto most common - 722.3/722.4 generally reliable. Manual rare. Suspension: Subframe mounts can rust. Ball joints. SLS if fitted expensive. Body: Rust is critical - check floors, sills, inner wings, boot floor, around hardtop mounts, windscreen surrounds.
