Adding the S badge brought a 3.8-litre engine (355hp/385hp), larger brakes, PASM active suspension, and 19-inch wheels as standard. The extra displacement provided a meaningful performance advantage while maintaining the Carrera's usability. Many consider the S the sweet spot of the 997 range, offering GT car performance without GT car compromises.
Same IMS concerns as base Carrera on 997.1. The larger engine has similar bore scoring potential on 997.2. PASM dampers require eventual replacement. Sport Chrono systems can develop faults. Ceramic brakes, if fitted, are expensive to service. Higher spec typically means higher expectations.
Manual transmission, Sport Chrono Package Plus, PCCB ceramic brakes, sport exhaust, sport seats plus, extended leather, Porsche Communication Management, Bose audio, PDCC dynamic roll control, full service history.
