2007 Mercedes-Benz C180 Sport

The W203 C180 (2000-2007) served as the entry point to the C-Class range with the M111 1.8-litre four-cylinder producing 129hp. The W203 was more overtly styled than its predecessor with distinctive quad headlights and a sportier stance. Kompressor supercharged versions arrived later adding useful performance. Interior quality was criticised initially but improved through the production run. Adequate for urban commuting but better suited to relaxed driving than motorway cruising.

Rust in front subframe mounts and rear wheel arches on early cars. Balance shaft and timing chain issues on M271 engines (later versions). Steering feel deteriorates as suspension bushes wear. Automatic gearbox conductor plate failures cause harsh shifting. Check for oil leaks from valve cover gaskets. SRS airbag wiring under seats can fail triggering warning lights. Air conditioning evaporator leaks.
