Highlights Naturally aspirated 3.6-litre flat-six with a proper six-speed manual Rear-wheel-drive driver's 911 in desirable manual form Distinctive Gen 2 front-end styling with a fixed rear wing Freshly refurbished 19-inch anthracite alloys Lots spent recently on air conditioning and servicing Overview The 997 took the 911 back to its most recognisable form, round headlights nodding to the 993 and a naturally aspirated flat-six slung out the back. It went on to become Porsche's best-selling 911,...
The entry-point 997 Carrera established a new benchmark for the base 911. The 3.6-litre flat-six produced 325hp (345hp in 997.2), mated to either a six-speed manual or Tiptronic/PDK automatic. Perfectly balanced chassis, legendary steering feel, and everyday usability make this the core 911 experience. The 997.2 brought direct injection, improving both performance and efficiency.
IMS bearing failure is the primary concern on 997.1 cars (2005-2008) though less prevalent than 996. Rear main seal weeps are common and usually cosmetic. Tiptronic torque converters can fail. Bore scoring is possible on 997.2 direct injection engines if oil changes are neglected. PASM struts have limited lifespan.
Manual transmission, Sport Chrono Package, PASM suspension, sport exhaust, sport seats, 19-inch wheels, extended leather, Porsche Communication Management, Bose audio, full Porsche service history.
