1989 Jaguar XJS Convertible

The Jaguar XJS Convertible (1988-1996) was the full convertible with properly engineered soft top. Available with V12 or six-cylinder engines. The most desirable XJS variant. Values from £20k (six) to £35k+ (V12).

Engine: V12 - generally reliable but complex carburettors (some converted to EFI), cooling critical, distributor issues. 6.0 most reliable. AJ16 six - timing chain tensioner critical, head gasket. Transmission: GM400 auto (V12) or Getrag manual (six). ZF on late cars. Electrics: Complex - cruise, A/C, sunroof all problematic. Body: Rust in sills, rear arches, screen surrounds. Convertible mechanism complex. Budget £5-8k (six), £8-12k (V12) annually.
