About the E63 AMG
The W212 E63 AMG (2009-2016) initially used the M156 6.2-litre NA V8 (518hp) before switching to the M157 5.5-litre twin-turbo (557hp, S model 585hp) in 2011. The twin-turbo cars delivered even more devastating performance with better efficiency. The W212 E63 represents excellent value as a used performance car.
Known Issues to Watch For
Engine: M156 (pre-2011) - head bolt recall, camshaft adjusters. M157 (2011+) - more reliable but turbos can fail. Transmission: MCT generally robust. Airmatic: Standard - check condition. General: M157 cars preferred for reliability.
