About the 190D 2.5

The W201 190 D 2.5 (1985-1993) used the OM602 2.5-litre diesel with 90hp. Improved performance while retaining diesel reliability.

Known Issues to Watch For

Engine: M102 four reliable - head gasket at high mileage. M103 six excellent. OM601/OM602 diesel legendary - properly maintained, indefinite life. Body: W201 is well-built but check for rust - sills, arches, inner wings, floor. Quality varies by country of origin. 16V: Cosworth head gasket. Evolution: Check for accident damage, verify authenticity carefully - very valuable. Transmission: Manual or 722.4 auto both reliable. Suspension: Ball joints, bushings with age. General: One of the best compact Mercedes ever built.
