The Subaru Impreza WRX GR (2008-2014) was the controversial hatchback-only generation. EJ255 2.5 turbo with 227-265hp. Practical five-door bodystyle polarised opinion. More refined than predecessors but lost some raw appeal. SI-Drive introduced multiple engine maps. Values from £10k for clean examples.
Known Issues to Watch For
GR Impreza (2008-2014): Engine: EJ257 2.5 turbo - head gaskets more prone than EJ20, timing belt critical, ringland failure possible at higher power levels. Gearbox: 6-speed generally robust but can fail at high power. SI-Drive: Check all modes function. DCCD: Verify operation. Turbo: Standard turbo adequate but often upgraded. Values: CS400 commands huge premium (75 built). Spec C desirable for purity. Budget £2-4k annually maintenance.
