Sat 11th & Sun 12th April The Minerva was a variant of the Land Rover Series I, assembled in Belgium as a CKD (complete knocked-down) export model for the Belgian military and police force. This 80in example comes with a BMIHT Heritage Certificate which confirms that it was built and despatched from Solihull on 8th May 1952. The Series I 86" (1954-1956) increased wheelbase slightly for improved load capacity.
Series Land Rover: Chassis - galvanised steel but rust is endemic. Check outriggers, crossmembers, spring hangers, bulkhead mounts. Bulkhead footwells rust badly. Engine 2.25 petrol/diesel simple and reliable. Oil leaks expected. Gearbox crash box (I/II) or synchro (IIA onwards). Aluminium body doesn't rust but check for electrolytic corrosion. Budget £2-5k annually.
