The Aston Martin V8 (1972-1989) evolved from the DBS V8 with revised styling by William Towns. The 5.3-litre V8 produced around 310hp (exact figures never officially quoted). Available as Saloon, Volante (convertible), and high-performance Vantage. The V8 represented Aston Martin through turbulent times and is now appreciated as a classic GT.
Engine: 5.3-litre V8 robust but: Fuel injection systems vary (Weber/Marelli/EFi) - each has issues. Oil leaks common. Cooling critical. Transmission: ZF manual or Chrysler Torqueflite auto. Manual preferred by enthusiasts. Body: Steel - rust is critical concern. Check all structural areas carefully. Electrics: Various eras have different systems - all need specialist knowledge. Trim: Interior parts very expensive. Leather. Wilton carpets. General: These are appreciating classics requiring significant investment. Budget £15k+ annually. Specialist essential.
