About the S63 AMG
The W221 S63 AMG (2006-2013) initially used the 6.2-litre M156 naturally aspirated V8 (518hp) before switching to the 5.5-litre twin-turbo M157 (544hp, later 585hp). The S63 delivered supercar performance in ultimate luxury. The twin-turbo cars are particularly impressive.
Known Issues to Watch For
Engine: M156 (pre-2011) - head bolt recall critical, verify completed. M157 (2011+) - turbos can fail, oil leaks. ABC: Still expensive. Airmatic: Standard on some - check condition. Electronics: Very complex. General: M157 preferred for reliability. Full service history essential.
