The MGA 1600 (1959-1961) upgraded to a 1588cc engine with 79hp, adding front disc brakes for improved stopping power. External changes included amber front turn signals. Offered in both roadster and coupe forms, it represented MGs commitment to continuous improvement.
All MGA rust concerns apply. Front disc brake caliper pistons seize if not regularly exercised. Master cylinder shared with drum rear can cause bias issues. Check for crash damage - MGA bodies flex easily.
Factory hardtop, wire wheels, heater, overdrive (rare factory option). Competition parts: close-ratio gearbox, oil cooler.
