£24,000 – £29,000
Estimate range
The 996 GT2 (2001-2004) was Porsche's most extreme road car of its era. Rear-wheel drive only, the twin-turbocharged flat-six produced 462hp in original form, rising to 483hp after 2003. Based on the GT3 chassis with turbo power, the GT2 was famously demanding to drive at the limit. Ceramic brakes were standard. Just over 1,000 were built. The 996 GT2 is now highly collectible as the last truly analogue turbo 911 before electronic intervention became standard.
Engine: Mezger GT1 engine generally bulletproof. Check for oil leaks, but fewer IMS concerns than M96. Turbos and wastegates need inspection. Clutch: Hard use wears clutches fast. Transmission: 6-speed robust but synchros can wear on tracked cars. Suspension: Spherical bearings need regular replacement. Dampers expensive. Brakes: PCCB ceramics standard - check for cracks, costly to replace. Body: Check for track damage. Spoiler mechanisms. General: Many were tracked hard - full inspection essential.
Clubsport package, PCCB (standard), Sport Chrono, Carbon bucket seats, Rollcage (if tracked), Low mileage, No track damage, Full service history
