About the SL350

The R231 SL350 (2012-2016) introduced a new aluminium-intensive structure saving 140kg over its predecessor. The M276 3.5-litre V6 produced 306hp with considerably improved efficiency. The retractable hardtop became even more refined, and the interior leapt forward in quality. Magic Sky Control glass roof could switch from light to dark at the touch of a button. Entry point to the SL range with impressive refinement and lower running costs than V8 siblings.

Known Issues to Watch For

M276 camshaft adjusters can fail with characteristic rattling on startup. Roof mechanism needs regular use to prevent seal deterioration. Magic Sky Control can develop faults - expensive to repair. COMAND system can freeze or reboot. Air suspension (if fitted) compressor and strut failures. Door handle mechanisms stick in cold weather. Some reports of water ingress around roof seals.
