The Silver Shadow II (1977-1980) featured rack-and-pinion steering and improved air conditioning. Around 8,425 built. More refined than Shadow I.
Silver Shadow/Corniche: Engine: 6.75 V8 - virtually indestructible. Oil leaks common but manageable. Gearbox: GM TH400 - reliable. Hydraulics: Self-leveling suspension and brakes use complex high-pressure system - EXPENSIVE when faulty (accumulators, pump, pipes). This is the main concern. Rust: Monocoque - check sills, floors, inner wings. Corniche convertible: Check roof mechanism, seals. Budget £5-10k annually. Hydraulic system is the critical check.
Shadow II (better steering), Corniche body (convertible most valuable), Fuel injection, Good hydraulics, Solid bodywork
