About the RS2 Avant
The Audi RS2 Avant (1994-1995) was co-developed with Porsche. 2.2-litre turbo five-cylinder with 315hp, Porsche 968 brakes and Cup mirrors. 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, faster than contemporary 911 Turbo. Just 2,891 built. The original super-estate and benchmark for all RS Avants. Values from £50k.
Known Issues to Watch For
RS2 Avant: Engine: 2.2 turbo five-cylinder - glorious sound and response. Timing belt critical (every 60k miles). Turbo and wastegate. Boost leaks possible. Porsche parts: 968 brakes and mirrors - Porsche prices apply. Transmission: 6-speed manual - robust but check synchros. Quattro: Torsen centre diff, check all diffs. Body: Galvanised but check for accident damage - many have been tracked/modified. Suspension: Bilstein - may need refresh. General: Budget £4-6k annually.
