The Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost (1906-1926) established Rolls-Royce as the "Best Car in the World." The 7.0-litre (later 7.4-litre) six-cylinder was renowned for silence and reliability. Named after a specific silver-painted car, the name became used for the entire 40/50hp model. Around 7,874 built. Museum-grade classics.
Pre-war Rolls-Royce: These are vintage cars requiring specialist care. Engine: Generally robust but require specialist knowledge. Magneto ignition, carburettors, manual lubrication systems. Brakes: Mechanical servo-assisted - need proper setup. Gearbox: Right-hand change on most. Body: Coachbuilt - condition varies enormously. Wood frame rot, steel panel rust. RREC membership essential. Budget £10-30k+ annually depending on use.
