The Triumph Vitesse (1962-1971) was the six-cylinder Herald. Smooth straight-six power in compact body. Around 51,000 built across all variants. Values from £10k.
Vitesse: Engine: Straight-six - lovely but early 1.6 has weak bottom end, 2.0 stronger. Timing chain, carburettor setup. Rear suspension: Pre-Mk2 has swing-axle - dangerous at limit. Mk2 has wishbone - much safer. Chassis: As Herald - check outriggers, crossmembers thoroughly. Body: Steel, rusts. Convertible seals need attention. Values: Rising - the gentleman's Herald. Mk2 convertible most desirable. Budget £1.5-3k annually.
