The Triumph TR3 (1955-1957) added front disc brakes - first mass-produced British car with them. 95hp standard, 100hp optional. Eggcrate grille. Around 13,400 built. Values from £28k.
TR2/TR3: Engine: Wet-liner 2.0 four - robust and tuneable. Check liner sealing, timing chain, oil leaks (normal for era). Gearbox: Non-synchro first (TR2/TR3) - learn double-declutch. TR3B has synchro box. Chassis: Separate chassis - check for rust, accident damage, poor repairs. Outriggers rust critically. Body: Steel body on ash frame in places - wood can rot. Doors, floors, sills rust. Front disc brakes (TR3+): Pioneering but need maintenance. Wire wheels: Check splines. Electrics: Lucas positive earth - conversion to negative common. Values: Strong, classic TR market established. Budget £2-4k annually.
