The Triumph TR8 (1978-1981) was the V8-powered TR7. Rover 3.5 V8 with 133-148hp. Mostly US-market. Around 2,700 built. The TR that should have been - combining wedge styling with proper V8 power. Values from £25k.
Known Issues to Watch For
TR8: Engine: Rover 3.5 V8 - reliable, torquey, parts available. Timing chain, typical V8 oil leaks. Carbs or fuel injection depending on market. Gearbox: 5-speed (most). Chassis: As TR7 but strengthened for V8 torque. Same rust concerns. Rarity: Around 2,700 built - mostly US spec. UK cars rare. Values: Rising - the TR7 everyone wanted. Budget £2-4k annually.
