The Bentley S1 marked the post-war renaissance, sharing its platform with the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. Its 4.9-litre inline-six offered refined performance, while the sporting Bentley identity was preserved through firmer suspension tuning. The Continental version with lightweight H.J. Mulliner fastback coachwork became an instant icon of 1950s motoring elegance.
Inline-six engine requires careful cooling system maintenance. Automatic gearbox (GM Hydramatic) needs specialist service. Drum brakes adequate but require regular adjustment. Rust affects sills, floor pans, and boot. Chrome trim difficult to restore. Leather interior dries out without conditioning.
Continental designation with H.J. Mulliner fastback coachwork. Manual gearbox (rare). Park Ward drophead coupe body. Power steering retrofit. Air conditioning. Matching numbers. Factory black paint with red leather highly desirable.
