1978 MG Midget Being sold without reserve Chassis number GAN6-208478G Engine number YB68336HE Registration number XTV 70S Red with a black interior Dry stored since 2018 An older restoration with photos of the process showing new wings, sills, doors etc Good history file with many previous MOT certrificates Recent hood Engine turns but is not running Needs re-commissioning or will be the basis of a good project
The final Midget (1974-1979) controversially adopted the Triumph Spitfire 1500cc engine producing 65hp. Rubber bumpers raised the ride height. Despite criticism for handling changes, the 1500 offers more torque and better parts availability than A-series cars. The last of the affordable British sports cars.
Triumph engine big-end bearing wear if oil pressure drops. Raised ride height affects handling - lowering kits available. Rear axle thrust washers wear. Actually easier to maintain than A-series. More parts available from Triumph sources.
Lowering kit fitted. Overdrive. Wire wheels conversion. Roll bar. Good examples of the last British small sports car gaining value.
