The 993 Turbo represents the pinnacle of air-cooled 911 performance. Launched in 1995, it was the first 911 Turbo with all-wheel drive as standard, transforming the previously challenging Turbo into a devastatingly effective all-weather supercar. The 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six produced 408hp (later 430hp for Turbo S), with power delivery that remained urgent but more progressive than previous 930 Turbos. The wide body, distinctive air intakes, and massive rear wing created an unmistakable silhouette. Build quality was extraordinary, with many examples still running trouble-free at high mileages. The 993 Turbo is now recognised as one of the greatest driver's cars ever made, with values reflecting its status as the ultimate expression of the air-cooled 911.
Engine: Twin-turbo setup generally reliable but boost pipes and hoses can fail. Check all turbo seals and wastegate function. K24 turbos robust. Intercooler hoses perish. Transmission: 6-speed G50/51 very strong. AWD transfer case needs oil changes. Viscous coupling can wear. Suspension: Same concerns as Carrera but more stressed due to power. Brakes: Big reds (4-piston) excellent but expensive to service - budget £2000+ for full refresh. Body: Stone chips worse on wide arches. Check for accident repair - these cars were often pushed hard. Verify turbo production numbers if claimed.
Factory aero kit (deleted rear wing - "flat nose" style), Exclusive Programme options, Full leather, Carbon fibre interior, Sport seats, Classic Design wheels, Turbo S specification (factory or conversion), X50 power kit
