About the WRX STI
The Subaru WRX STI VA (2014-2021) was the last of the EJ-powered STIs. EJ257 2.5 turbo with 305hp, 6-speed manual, DCCD. Saloon-only bodystyle with aggressive widebody styling. Final Edition (2019 UK) marked end of an era. Values rising as collectors recognise this as the last "proper" STI with the legendary EJ engine. From £30k, Final Edition commanding £40k+.
Known Issues to Watch For
VA WRX/STI (2014-2021): Engine: FA20 (WRX) more reliable than EJ; EJ257 (STI) retains head gasket concerns, timing belt, ringland failure at high boost. Gearbox: 6-speed manual robust; CVT (WRX only) divisive. DCCD (STI): Check operation. Infotainment: Can be glitchy. Values: STI Final Edition appreciating as last EJ car. Budget £2-3k annually for STI, £1.5-2.5k for WRX.
