2013 McLaren MP4-12C - Mansory Carbon Edition

The MP4-12C (later simply 12C) was McLaren's first series production road car, establishing the template for all McLarens that followed. The carbon MonoCell chassis was revolutionary - a single tub weighing just 75kg that could be produced in four hours. The twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 (M838T) produced 592hp initially, upgraded to 616hp in 2012. The Seamless Shift Gearbox (SSG) dual-clutch transmission offered lightning-fast shifts. ProActive Chassis Control delivered remarkable ride quality combined with handling precision. While early cars had some quality issues, the 12C proved McLaren could build world-class supercars and remains excellent value on the used market.

Engine: M838T V8 generally reliable but turbo actuator issues on early cars (warranty campaign). Check for oil leaks around turbo oil feeds. Thermostat housing can crack. Gearbox: SSG robust but clutch wear on hard-used cars (£5-8k replacement). Input shaft bearing can whine. Suspension: ProActive Chassis Control (PCC) hydraulic system expensive if it fails - listen for pump whine. Anti-roll bar drop links.
