About the WRX STI
The Impreza WRX STI GD (2001-2007) covered Bugeye through Hawkeye eras. EJ207 turbo with 265-276hp, 6-speed gearbox, DCCD, Brembo brakes. JDM versions more powerful than UK PPP specification. Popular era for enthusiasts - better refinement than GC with proper rally pedigree. Values from £18k for clean examples.
Known Issues to Watch For
GD Impreza (2000-2007): Engine: EJ205/EJ207/EJ255 turbo - timing belt critical, head gaskets (EJ25 2.5L more prone than EJ20), turbo wear, boost leaks. Gearbox: 5-speed (WRX) synchros wear; 6-speed (STI) stronger but not bulletproof. DCCD: Check all modes function. Rust: Better than GC but still check sills, arches, boot floor - 15-20 year old cars. Values: Blobeye considered sweet spot. RB320/WR1 command premiums. Budget £2-3k annually maintenance.
